Leppert: Two significant employers are eyeing Dallas for possible relocations
Two significant employers are considering moving their operations to Dallas, according to Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert, who was among those speaking Tuesday morning at a Big Brothers Big Sisters benefit.
The focus of the morning’s comments was on economic recovery.
“I am optimistic and I am enthusiastic,” Leppert said. “We’ve had the advantage of having one of the strongest markets.”
Leppert said growth is the key to success, and things looks good for Dallas, considering the city’s geographic location, reasonable cost of living and doing business, infrastructure capacity and downtown development.
Two companies, he said, are looking to move to Dallas. One is a large company from the East Coast, and the other is a Southern California-based company that could bring in 400 jobs. He declined to disclose any other information.
Dallas' biggest weakness is its education system, Leppert said, adding: "not only in the K through 12, but we also need to address it in higher learning.”
