What Women Want: Dallas Real Estate
Dirt. Bricks and mortar, stucco and museum-finish smooth walls. This is one of those studies where I could have told them all this for half the price they probably paid: women love investing in real estate more than men. 44% consider buying real estate more enjoyable than… investing in other asset classes. And they are not into REIT-type funds. Most women prefer, ahem, the real thing: owning and controlling their own portfolio.
Years ago my uncle showed me an article about a woman in Sarasota, Florida who had become a millionaire by buying small apartment buildings and leasing to tenants. She started out buying one, turned positive cash flow, then used that one to buy another, then another. Had a 100% occupancy rate.
Personally, I think real estate is sexy. Cars depreciate in value the moment you drive that Rolls Royce home. Show me a man who owns multiple homes over one who has a fleet of autos any day. Even better, show me my own portfolio.
Now who makes a better landlord? A man or a woman?
